OMG – I cannot believe how many cartridges and digital cartridges that I have for my Cricut. As I started to write these down, I thought – wow!!! HOWEVER – Even though scrapbooking/paper crafting with a cartridge based die cutting machine is not cheap, I have RARELY paid full price for any cartridge. Always looking for sales and specials. I probably have only paid “full price” for 3 cartridges. One of those cartridges doesn’t count b/c it’s from Close to My Heart – you get SO much with the cartridge – stamps and chipboards. I did not pay more than $49.99 for the other 2 cartridges. I get confused when people say that they can’t afford cartridges because they run around $89.99 – I have NEVER seen cartridges cost this much. Craziness!! 
If you see a Cricut cartridge (not sold by a special retailer like CTMH) that costs more than $49.99 – RUN and fast!! And if you see it at $49.99 – wait – you’ll find it cheaper very soon – of course you absolutely have to have it!
I’m not in anyway Provo Craft only – I just love my many Cricut machines. Cricut doesn’t pay me anything for saying that I like them – it looks like that I’m the one paying them. I also have an eCraft machine by Craftwell. It’s amazing. I love to collect SVGs!!! I’m still learning SCAL (does not work with Cricut). I’m also excited about the eBosser coming out. So cool.
Tips – Buying off of Cricut directly when they have sales is great. Also – watch for rebate sales. I got an Imagine cartridge and 2 Imagine printer cartridges for free because I bought 2 Imagine Cartridges on sale. I got one Cartridge free because I bought 2 cartridges from Michael’s and each were only $19.99!!
Ebay is also a great place to buy BRAND NEW – NEW IN BOX – NEVER OPENED – cartridges. Make sure that those words are in the description and that you see the pictures. If you want to be able to link your cartridge to Craft Room or your Gypsy – make sure you purchase new ones. I’ve gotten a few brand new cartridges for $10 using Ebay. I don’t like buying used cartridges because I do want to be able to link my cartridges. Plus I want the rewards points!! hehe.
Watch for sales from Cuttingbugs, Cricut Direct and Craft-e-Corner. I think Cricut Direct had a sale where if you bough 5 Imagine Cartridges you got $50 off your total order. I bought 5 Cartridges that I wanted – all were on sale – between $24.99 and $39.99 then got $50 off.
Being a member of the Circut Circle is also a great idea. Feels good to be a part of a “group”, you get a cute bracelet, access to a special blog and special challenges, a members only cartridge every quarter, double points for all your purchases off of http://www.cricut.com, PLUS 10% off your order from http://www.cricut.com.
Use those rewards points!! They really add up fast! I’ve gotten tons of free things by using my rewards points. Plus you get extra points on many cartridges when you buy from the Cricut website.
So buying cartridges doesn’t have to break the bank. You just have to be patient when you find the ones you want. I keep a listing in my phone of my cartridges and my wish list so that if I’m out an about and see a sale, I check based off what I have AND what I want. Don’t just buy a cartridge because it’s on sale – only buy the ones you want and you will use!! (Easier said than done when you see a great sale on them!!)
